Reflects Dans Sequana

Reflects Dans Sequana reimagines Claude Debussy's life and motivations for composing, construing his piano music as too politically and culturally subversive for twenty-first century audiences. Making use of a unique instrument, the Sequanaphone, as well as piano, sampler, and video, it proposes solutions for how this music should be adapted for use today. Looking at Debussy's music through this warped lens, Reflects Dans Sequana seeks to playfully dismantle the assumptions of the wider western art music tradition, and question this music's potency to bring about political and cultural change.
