Nicholas Moroz

Nicholas Moroz is a composer and producer based in London making acoustic and electronic music. He is also the artistic director of Explore Ensemble, a contemporary music group specialising in chamber and live electronic music. Nicholas holds a DPhil in Music from the University of Oxford, and teaches composition and electronic music at the Royal College of Music, among other topics including classical sound recording, and music and the environment.

His music has been performed by musicians and groups including the GBSR Duo, trombonist Sebastiaan Kemner, Explore Ensemble, Lonelinoise, Silbersee, Residentie Orkest, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, ensemble recherche, and the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, at venues and festivals such as the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, De Doelen Rotterdam, Abbaye de Royaumont, Moscow Philharmonic, and the Aldeburgh Festival.

Active as a producer and recording engineer, Nicholas has contributed to several records, including Beatrice Dillon’s Seven Reorganisations, Mark Fell’s Psychic Resynthesis, Lisa Illean’s arcing, stilling, bending, gathering, Explore Ensemble’s 2023 albums Parallaxis Forma on Another Timbre and Perfect Offering on HCR, and others including Jack Sheen’s Croon Harvest on The Trilogy Tapes.
