Art Banymandhub

Art Banymandhub is a Mauritian-born, British-raised musician and composer, living in the city of Bath, England. He has studied popular music performance at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, composition at Leeds Conservatoire, and is currently researching in composition at Royal Holloway University of London.

Growing up, Art developed a passion for the electric guitar and bass guitar, predominantly playing Classic Rock and Metal in local groups in the North of England. However, expressing personal feelings and states with words always appeared difficult and alien. This would be addressed through the medium of instrumental music. Finding instrumental music to be his primary form of expression, Art’s composition and performance work, focusing in ambient and solo instrumental styles, aims to create soundscapes to engage within from the listener’s own experience. Influences include Brian Eno, Slash, Billy Sheehan, and Steve Lawson to name a few.

Professionally, Art has worked nationally and internationally as a choir leader, classroom teacher, education director, performing musician, and event promotor. His live solo work has been performed in various parts of the UK and focuses on live bass guitar and loop stations, creating instrumental music. Alongside this, he actively performs as an electric guitarist, bass guitarist, and double bassist in various blues and folk outfits in Bath and the surrounding area. Art’s current work and research focuses on the depiction of tragedy through mixed media installation and composition, with a particular focus on global events.
